Just a question, do you draw a rough under and then clean it up, or is this just straight ahead?
- I first draw a sketch "as far as I can" but usually I never go very far (for example, at best, just the upper part of the body)
- then I erase lines I don't like and directly draw "clean" lines. I can redraw some of them a tones of time until I'm okay with the whole gesture.
- I continue the rest of the sketch like this...
I've been told it's more efficient if I have a rough under, but I like using just one layer...I might be totally wrong but I hope to learn to draw straight ahead that way, because repeting lines over and over again is tedious. To be honest, my drawings on paper can't be as "developped" or "clean" as the ones on PC.
If I do too much roughing out my final drawings tend to be stiff. there is definitly value in learning to draw 'straight ahead', that's why I only allow myself to use pen when I am drawing in my sketchbook. It forces me to think a little more before I start and actually lets me work faster.
